About Okanagan Shuswap
The Shuswap is located in the Northeast Okanagan, just 60 miles from Kelowna. The Shuswap has a warm-hot climate in the summer (between 25 and 30 degrees celsius with low humidity) and a moderately cold climate in the winter, hovering between 0 and 10 degrees with moderate precipitation. Shuswap Lake has over 400km of shoreline and is comprised of other lake arms, namely: Main Shuswap Arm, Salmon Arm, Mara Lake, Anstey Arm and Seymour Arm. Maximum depth is at Seymour Arm, plunging to 162 meters and is shallowest at Mara Lake with a maximum depth of 50 meters. The name Shuswap comes from Shuswap people of the Interior Salish tribe.
Shuswap is lake country and an adventure playground for outdoor enthusiasts and weekend warriors alike. Swimming, boating, hiking, mountain biking, water skiing, canoeing, and golf are preferred summer activities, while backcounrty skiing and snowmobiling are popular pastimes in the short winter.
Shuswap Towns
Sicamous and Salmon Arm are the main local towns in the Shuswap, each boasting first-class accommodations and restaurants. Smaller communities include Enderby and Sorrento.
